House prices continued to fall in August, new figures from Nationwide show.

The price of a typical house in the UK fell by 1.9 per cent in August, which means since last year prices have dropped by just over ten per cent.

According to Nationwide, this is the first time annual house prices have dropped by a double digit figure since 1990.

The cost of an average home now costs £164,654, with the bank predicting more falls in the coming months.
