Parents give first-borns their time and money for home buying
Parents are more likely to help their eldest children in buying their first home than they are to assist their younger sons or daughters in this process, according to a new survey. Whereas over one in six first-borns get help from their mums and dads in raising deposits for their first home, Abbey's poll found that only one in eight second-born children and just one in 11 third-born kids received this same financial aid. Moreover, while parents on average spend 52.5 hours in total helping their eldest children to choose and then to move into a new property, this falls to 34 hours for their second-born children and to only 27 hours for their third-born.
