Scotland set to drive house price growth

Most of the towns that will display the strongest house price growth in 2008 are located in Scotland or the south-east, according to a new report, as was the case last year. Montrose demonstrated the most impressive price growth in 2007 and was one of four Scottish towns to make a list of Britain's top ten performers, along with five towns in London and the south-east. This year, the Scottish towns of Lochgelly, Paisley, Greenock and Aberdeen are expected to show Britain's best growth, with the first three of those locations offering a combination of relatively low prices at present and easy access to nearby major cities. Hackney in east London is set to be the fifth strongest performer, as a result of the forthcoming 2012 Olympics and proposed Crossrail network, while improved commuter services are also expected to boost price growth in Dartford and Chatham in Kent.
