Lending on way down, say lenders' associations
Mortgage lending appears to be slowing down as a result of successive base rate hikes, according to figures from the associations representing banks and building societies. Statistics from the British Bankers' Association (BBA) shows that net lending from banks grew by an underlying £5.1 billion in March, which was lower than the £5.8 billion rise seen in June, as well as below the recent monthly average increase.
