Britain's house prices are amongst the highest in the EU, according to new figures, while recent growth is also almost unparalleled anywhere else in the bloc. The average cost of a property in the UK last year was £187,100, according to Halifax's data, which was lower than the £209,300 and £190,900 averages for Ireland and the Netherlands respectively, but higher than the figures for both France and Spain.
