Homeowners are doing up the house
An increasing number of homeowners are making enhancements to their property with the intention of improving its value, according to new figures. One in four people who made improvements to their home over the past 12 months did so with the sole intention of augmenting its worth, Halifax's poll showed, compared to less than one in five last year. First-time buyers are particularly keen to add value as they look to move up the property ladder, while nearly one in six of all homeowners admit that they did the work on their house so they could potentially sell it for more, compared to just one in 50 a year ago.
