Nearly a third of people with mortgages say that paying off their borrowing or dealing with monthly mortgage payments is their biggest financial worry, a new report claims. According to research, mortgage holders in the UK would like to see their borrowing become more flexible, with more than half of borrowers saying they think their current mortgage deal is too rigid. Given the choice, nearly three quarters of people said that they would choose to reduce their mortgage term or payments to reduce the balance over time. Similarly, people are becoming more aware that the true cost of their mortgage can only be calculated by looking at the whole term of the borrowing, rather than just the headline mortgage rate.
