Many borrowers see buying properties for rental purposes as the safest and most profitable way of investing their money, according to a new survey. The mortgage Trust's poll revealed that three out of four people enter the buy-to-let market because they believe it would offer them better returns than any other form of investment. More than a quarter also say they were motivated by the degree of control that buying property gives them over their speculation, as they will ultimately have a say in the returns they achieve, rather than having to depend solely on external market forces.
