HSBC has emerged as the biggest mortgage lender in Hong Kong for 2006, according to local media reports, after a home loan price war with fellow competitor Bank of China Hong Kong. HSBC initiated the first round of competition in February 2006 by cutting its mortgage rates, which was followed by other rivals duplicating its actions to remain competitive.
