Thinking About Lodgers?

With high mortgage costs more and more homeowners are looking to lodgers for extra income – but encountering problems.

According to a new survey a well-known insurance company, a significant percentage of those who take in lodgers report both an emotional and financial toll.

Sixty-four per cent said they felt their privacy had been invaded and 40 per cent felt uncomfortable in their own home. On the financial side, 17 per cent said their property had suffered damage from lodgers.

A quarter of all respondents said the experience had been so bad they would never repeat it.
