About the area

Costa Blanca is in the province of Alicante. It consists of around 200 km of Mediterranean coastline.

Costa Blanca

To the north it includes the popular resorts of Gandia, Javea and Denia and to the south it extends to the development of Torrevieja. Around here marks the beginning of the Costa Calida.

A number of smallish resorts such as Moraira, Altea and Calpe are particularly popular with Spanish tourists. In contrast the high rise resort of Benidorm attracts some 5 million foreign and national tourists every year, mostly British.

Palacio Ducal de los Borja is Gandia Town’s number one tourist attraction. You can take a guided tour in Spanish with a printed explanation in English. The tours are every half hour.

Javea

Javea

The old town centre of Javea is worth visiting. It is a town of whitewashed buildings and gothic architecture. Take a look in the Gothic Church of San Bartolome and visit the busy food market with its stalls full of fresh fish, fruits and vegetables from the region.

Peñon de Ifach

Peñon de Ifach

The Peñon de Ifach is a Natural Park which is the symbol of the whole Costa Blanca. It is 332m high and extends for a kilometre out to sea. You can climb to the top from the information office at its base.

Terra Mitica

Terra Mitica is one of Europe's most exciting theme parks. It has something for all age groups. Don't worry about going if you're not a fan of the adrenaline rush as there are always plenty of gentler options including some great water rides. To make sure that younger children never feel left out the park has constructed 15 kiddie rides which are replicas of the scarier adult version. All in all there is something for everyone at Terra Mitica.

Aqualandia is located in Benidorm and is the largest water park in Europe. Aqualandia has everything a tourist could wish for, from the highest slide in any water park in Europe to an area with plant and rock gardens with waterfalls you can walk through. Alicante International Airport (ALC), originally named El Altet, is the main airport for the regions of Alicante and Murcia in Spain. It is located within the municipality of Elx (Elche), 9 km southwest of Alicante. Alicante is the major airport on Costa Blanca, so 80% of traffic is international. A new terminal is under construction to be completed by 2009.
